Exercise 02: Letterform Joinery

Exercise 02:
Letterform Joinery
The purpose of this exercise was to combine one positive (black) and one negative (white) letters to create a single typographic mark, while trying to ensure that both characters are fully legible.
The reasoning behind the combination of the letters b and n was to work with the initials of my name. This is so I have a more personal level to my work. The combination of the two made an overall unified feel of the Type, and I feel like my goal was met with it being more personal to me.
Process:
Sketching and tracing type and overlapping type to make combinations. Then, transferred the drawings to Illustrator with the text tool.
The fonts that are being used are Bodoni (left) and Clarendon (right). I chose these fonts because really liked how they looked as a Modern Serif (Bodoni) and a Slab Serif (Clarendon).
